About us

Welcome to Buckley Theatre Club.

A friendly and passionate amateur dramatics group based at Hawkesbury Little Theatre.

Bringing theatre to the community.

Welcome to Buckley Theatre Club, a friendly and passionate amateur dramatics group at the heart of our local community. Based in Buckley, Flintshire, we bring people together through a shared love of theatre, performance, creativity, and entertainment.

For many years, our club has provided opportunities for people of all ages and experience levels to get involved both on and off the stage. From actors and directors to backstage crew, set builders, costume makers, lighting and sound technicians, everyone plays an important part in bringing our productions to life.

Our Christmas pantomime has become a cherished annual tradition, drawing returning audiences season after season. We are delighted to receive ongoing praise for the high standard of entertainment and the joyful, uplifting experience our performances provide.

As a community-focused organisation, we believe theatre should be inclusive, enjoyable, and inspiring. Our aim is not only to produce quality performances, but also to create lasting friendships, encourage confidence and creativity, and provide a space where people can learn new skills and express themselves.

If you are interested in joining us, supporting local theatre, or simply enjoying a great night’s entertainment, we would love to hear from you.

Our History

Buckley Theatre Club has been part of the local arts community for generations, with its roots dating back to 1957 when the group was originally formed as the Bistre Drama Group. Established to bring live theatre and entertainment to the local community, the club has remained a valued part of Buckley’s cultural life for more than six decades.

In its early years, the group performed a variety of productions, including community plays and seasonal performances, gradually building a reputation for welcoming entertainment and strong local involvement.

As the club grew, so too did its audience, with annual pantomimes becoming a much-loved tradition for families across the area.

In 1984, the club moved into its permanent home at Hawkesbury Little Theatre following the development of the community centre. This gave the group a dedicated venue for rehearsals, performances, and social events, helping Buckley Theatre Club continue to expand and thrive within the local community.

Over the years, countless volunteers, performers, directors, backstage crew, and supporters have contributed their time and passion to the theatre. Their dedication has helped shape Hawkesbury Little Theatre into the vibrant and welcoming venue it remains today.

Today, Buckley Theatre Club continues to proudly serve the community through a variety of productions and events, bringing together people of all ages through a shared love of theatre, creativity, and live performance.
